Dieula Aléus - Solo Exhibition

Linnéa, who works under the name Dieula Aléus, the name given to her by her biological mom in Haiti, was adopted at the age of two by Dutch parents. A moment that marked a profound shift across cultures, identity, and belonging.
​
Her work reflects this journey. Through bold contrasts, colour, and pattern, she explores self-image, displacement, and a reconnection with her roots. Many of her figures carry the features she once struggled to accept, alongside narratives of who she was and who she is becoming.
​
Creating is where she finds peace. With each piece, something in her heals. By sharing her work, she invites others to recognise themselves within it, and to feel a little less alone.
Fluttering Wings

Unmaking Art Studio, in collaboration with Satellites of Art, presents Echoes of Fluttering Wings, a group exhibition exploring migration, memory, and identity. The exhibition reflects on the experience of moving between places, the longing for home, and the ongoing process of shaping who we are across cultures.

Kate Ferguson - Solo Exhibition

Join us for the opening night of WAVES, a solo exhibition by Kate Ferguson.
A multidisciplinary artist working across photography, writing, and film, Kate brings a sensitive and intuitive approach to image-making. Exploring memory, transformation, and the spaces in between.
This exhibition marks the culmination of her residency with RARO Barcelona.

A two-day exhibition of wildlife photography by David Lerch, whose work over the past decade has focused on the raw and remote landscapes of the High Arctic. Since his first expedition to Svalbard, David has dedicated himself to capturing the fragile beauty of the Arctic. His project, “Eye to Eye with Arctic Foxes,” offers an intimate glimpse into the hidden lives of these resilient survivors. By photographing at the animals’ eye level, he creates striking images that narrow the distance between humans and nature, inviting viewers into a direct and personal encounter with Arctic wildlife. Join us for this unique opportunity to experience the Arctic in the heart of Barcelona.

We’re excited to welcome Cindy Kuijpers to Unmaking Art Studio for a hands-on Collage Workshop that blends intuition, play, and thoughtful composition. Cindy is known for her expressive collage work that mixes texture, colour, and unexpected combinations. In this workshop, she’ll guide participants through her creative process — from selecting materials to building layers, shaping narrative, and trusting instinct. Come spend an inspiring afternoon exploring collage, connecting with fellow creatives, and learning directly from a practicing artist in our welcoming El Raval studio space.

UNMAKING BORDERS

Unmaking Borders, a group exhibition exploring the many forms of boundaries that shape, and constrain our lives. Borders are more than lines on a map. They can be geographical, cultural, linguistic, gendered, class-based, or imposed through systems of power and occupation.
They define who belongs and who is excluded, who is visible and who remains unseen. Unmaking Borders can be a hopeful undoing of divisions through empathy, creativity, and human connection, or the violent erasure of borders by power, colonisation, or military occupation.

Unmaking Art Studio celebrates its first year in Barcelona’s El Raval with a special solo exhibition by co-founder Shyne Eghosa Obazee, presenting three distinct yet connected bodies of work: The Signature Series (2025), Echo of Us (2025), and COR Fort (2025). Together, these works mark not only a milestone for Unmaking Art Studio, but also a moment of reflection: a year of building community, creating space, and tracing the threads between heritage, place, and expression.

We are excited to host a special session with Badir McCleary, founder of ArtAboveReality. Badir’s work spans curation, research, writing, photography, and strategy. Through his firm, he supports collectors, institutions, and artists with services that range from collection management and critical analysis to digital marketing, online exhibitions, and e-commerce strategies for art sales.In this conversation, we’ll discuss the role of Black artists in contemporary art, the challenges of visibility in mainstream institutions, and the opportunities presented by digital tools and platforms.

THE SHADOW OF GIANTS

Olatubosun Owonifari is a Nigerian-born UX designer and digital artist based in Barcelona. He has always been captivated by Manga, drawn to its dynamic narratives, intricate characters, and bold stylistic choices. This early passion stayed with him through college, where he studied graphic design and honed his skills in composition, typography, and user-centered aesthetics. Over time, his fascination with visual storytelling and culture evolved into a creative practice that blends his design expertise with his love for Manga’s unique aesthetic. His latest collection, “In the Shadow of Giants”, reimagines iconic Manga characters and themes through digital printmaking.

WINE AND WISDOM

Wine and Wisdom, the curious hour - Join us for an evening of conversation, reflection, and community as we gather around the work and legacy of Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), the Swedish painter and mystic now widely recognised as one of the true pioneers of abstract art. Long overlooked by mainstream art history, af Klint’s work draws on spirituality, symbolism, and a deep connection to the unseen. Over a glass of wine, we’ll explore her life, her visionary paintings, and the questions her legacy raises: Why was her work hidden for decades? What does it mean when women’s contributions to art are erased or minimised?
