Shyne Eghosa
Shyne Eghosa Obazee(b. 1975) is a self-taught artist from Nigeria who discovered his passion for art as a form of expression, in early 2023. Before then, he had never so much as picked up a brush. Inspired by Art Brut, he embraced the freedom of creating without formal training. He primarily works with acrylics, oil sticks, and pastels, using these mediums to create vivid, textured pieces on wood board.

Shyne’s work, draws inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat and Paul Klee, incorporating elements of graffiti and comics, providing a contemporary appeal. His work is further influenced by Barcelona's artistic history and in particular the styles of Antoni Clavé, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso, the latter of whom was influenced by African art—a connection that resonates in Shyne's work.
Despite being new to the art world, Shyne was one of 180 artists selected to showcase their work at the Chianciano 2024 Biennale, a prestigious curated exhibition in Tuscany, Italy that celebrates contemporary art from around the globe.
In addition to this significant achievement, Shyne has exhibited his work at several local events in Barcelona, capturing the attention of the community. With his distinctive style that bridges cultures, Shyne continues to develop his artistic practice and finds inspiration through research, travel, and visits to both small and large galleries at home and abroad, considering himself a work in progress.
